Have you ever noticed that a lot of people talk about how they want to be rich or even just get more successful? I'm sure you have. I see it almost every time I get on social media & more than likely you have said it too & although it's great to have some goals & ideas but with out putting in the work they just remain goals & dreams.
So stop talking about it & start working for it. Here are some tips I've proven to be succeful towards being more successful.
Work Hard & Listen to the Advise of those doing it
"There is simply no substitute for hard work when it comes to achieving success". - Heather Bresch
"Most of the successful people I’ve known are the ones who do more listening than talking." - Bernard M. Baruch
So I know this guy that is always asking me how I got to where I am today with my clothing brand tlhministries. He is always asking how I am making sales & why he's not. In a matter of just a few months I was able to quit my $8 an hour job at the local gas station to a freelance graphic designer making twice as much. He is always telling me that he wishes he could be getting paid for doing the things he loves too. That right there is his problem... he always says "I wish I could be" rather than working towards it. Another problem that I've noticed from other people & him is that they don't apply anything I or anyone else tells them to do that we have done & been successful doing to their work.
Another thing I see people doing is listening to other people that have no experience. Rather than wasting your time listening to people who don't know what they are talking about find someone out there that does. Find people who have done what you want to do & learn from them. When I started my clothing brand I asked a lot of questions from people who had been where I was. I keep up with all my favorite designers & entrepreneurs on social media, I read their blogs or watch their videos on YouTube & read books they've written or suggest to read. You can learn a lot more from just reading a book someone wrote than you probably think.
Get Rid of Fear
"Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will". - Suzy Kassem
I used to be held down by fear. I used to be scared of what other people would think or of not being good enough. Since 2010 I have been wanting to write & blog but was always scared that I wasn't good. Everyone who has been great at something have always started out not so great. Fear will never get you anywhere in life. It will keep you from doing all the things you love. I once heard the quote "Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will". The moment I read that I knew I had to take more risks & not let fear get in my way & hold me back. From that point on its all been up hill. I've started making more sales. I quit my job & became a freelance graphic designer & I am currently in the process of starting up a few new things. I have a lot of other things in the works too.
Don't be held down by your fear.
Stop Making Excuses
"The only thing standing between you and your goal is the BS story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't achieve it." - Jordan Belfort
Shut up & stop making excuses. When I worked at my local gas station last Summer ever morning the same few customers would come in for coffee before work or whatever else. After working there awhile I got to talk to a lot of them on a more personal level & something noticed was that probably about 80% or more hated that they had to go to work everyday. They didn't like their job, boss or people they worked with. By that time I was reading different books, articles & learning different things because I felt the same way about my job. I had to get out. I didn't make excuses I just did what I had to do. I told my customers things I was doing to get out & EVERY single one of them had an excuse. "I'm too old", "I didn't go to college", "I don't have the time or money". Yeah I have heard them all. I had less money than most of them. I maybe wasn't old but I sure didn't finish college or even get good grades in school.
Excuses won't get you anywhere. We all have our struggles & things that go wrong in our lives but they are still no excuse. Just the other day I watched a YouTube video of a guy with no legs skateboarding. If this guy would have said "I'll never be able to skateboard because I have no legs" he'd still just be wishing he could. So you aren't too old or too young. You have the time & money isn't really the issue its just another excuse.
Most people want to get rich but the fact is that they aren't even trying. So if you want to get "rich" or successful you better put in the work to do so, get rid of fear & stop making excuses.
