Get ahead while everyone else falls behind. While other people are out partying or just "chillin" go work on your dreams. 5 years from now you'll be glad you did. Heck even a year from now you will see a difference & be glad you gave up a few extra nights of partying.
It has been my observation that most people get ahead during the time that others waste. - Henry Ford
Here are a few tips on how you can get ahead & stay focused while others are falling behind & wasting time.
Limit your partying.
Think about this for a second... If you go get wasted or even just stay out late partying on Friday you wasted all those hours you could have been working towards your dreams then because you have to adjust the next day once you finally wake up at 1 in the afternoon you've lost half the day at least. So you lost a full day just because you wanted to party. Trust me I used to be that guy that's how I know that if you want to succeed at your dreams you need to stay focused.
Be active & have hobbies.
By now if you are still reading this you are probably thinking well we all need time to just relax or chill & although that is true don't make it a habit. Something I have learned from many other successful people I look to for wisdom have hobbies & are active. I've found that taking about a 2 hour break from my work to either go skate or write music when I am struggling to come up with ideas helps me come back with a mind full of new ideas. I have also found that after a few hours of working doing some push-ups or sit-ups & getting my blood flowing helps me stay on top of my work & coming out with new ideas. For me the days I am able to drum & work on music or go skate are the days I actually get the most done with my work.
Turn off the T.V. & open up a book.
I don't know why no one ever believes me when I tell them that ever since I started reading every day my income just keeps going up. I try to at least read 2 or 3 blogs a day & a few chapters of whatever book I am reading at the time. I recently just finished "Show Your Work!" by Austin Kleon & started "Rework" by Jason Fried & David Heinemeir Hansson. I learn a lot from reading different books & blogs from other people on a similar path as me that have experienced the things I'm going through. So try it sometime. Turn your T.V. off & just go read blogs on the internet for a few hours.
Your opponent does 10 reps... Do 11! It's hard to beat someone that is always 1 upping you & isn't giving up. Always out do what others are doing. If all your friends are spending 2 hours on the weekend working towards their dreams... spend 6 out of the 7 days working 2 hours a day on yours. The harder you work the more opportunities come your way.
The bottom line is get ahead while your friends are falling behind because they are to busy "chillin". You'll get to enjoy life while they will have to work twice as hard just to stay alive. Get ahead during the time that others are wasting.
